Nestlé Pakistan Wins Two Top Awards at 28th Sustainable Development Conference

SDPI’s 28th Sustainable Development Conference

As Pakistan navigates the twin challenges of climate vulnerability and inclusive growth, aligning investment, public policy, and business with sustainability has never been more critical. At the 28ᵗʰ Sustainable Development Conference (SDC) and Sustainability Investment Expo (SIE) hosted by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in Islamabad, Nestlé Pakistan’s long-term work on climate action and Creating Shared Value was recognized with two of the forum’s most prestigious distinctions.

Nestlé Pakistan received 1ˢᵗ Position in Renewable Energy & Low-Carbon Transitions at the SDC Sustainability Awards 2025, as well as the Best Pavilion Award at the Sustainability Investment Expo. Winning these honors is a testament to Nestlé’s industry leadership in embedding sustainability into its business model, and an exemplar of how organizations can use their scale to advance regenerative food systems in Pakistan. These awards acknowledge leading multinationals, local corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and development organizations working towards Pakistan’s sustainable development agenda.

Advancing Renewable Energy and Low-Carbon Operations

The award for leading Renewable Energy & Low-Carbon Transitions honors Nestlé Pakistan’s Net Zero journey, which follows the company’s global ambition to reduce emissions and reach Net Zero by 2050. To achieve this, the company has invested in renewable power and energyefficiency projects across its manufacturing footprint, including over 9.5 megawatts of solar energy and a biomass boiler at the Kabirwala Factory.

Showcasing Sustainability Across the Value Chain

The Best Pavilion Award acknowledged the way Nestlé Pakistan’s stall brought the company’s sustainability journey to life across its entire value chain. Spanning company interventions across farms and factories to communities and ecosystems, this immersive exhibit attracted policymakers, development partners, academia, students, and media over a span of four days

The stall was optimized for enhancing the visitors’ user experience, with artfully rendered models depicting sustainable practices deployed by Nestlé and its partner farmers to promote climate action, regenerative agriculture, water stewardship, and circularity. Together, these initiatives painted a holistic picture of how Nestlé is supporting regenerative food systems across Pakistan.

High-Level Dialogue on Financing Sustainable Development

Nestlé’s participation extended beyond the expo into the conference’s policy dialogue space. In collaboration with SDPI, the company co-hosted a high-level plenary on “Financing Sustainable Development in the Emerging World Dis|order,” featuring Jason Avanceña, CEO Nestlé Pakistan; Dr. Mahir Binici, Resident Representative for International Monetary Fund (IMF); Dr. Samuel Rizk, Resident Representative for United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); and Bolormaa Amgaabazar, Country Director for the World Bank Group. Moderated by Dr. Abid Qaiyum Suleri, Executive Director for SDPI, the discussion underscored the need for collective action between government, private sector, and development partners to unlock financing and innovation for a climate-resilient and inclusive future.

Speaking at the plenary, Jason Avanceña said, “Financing sustainable development demands innovative mechanisms that blend public, private, and multilateral resources together. The challenge lies in ensuring equitable access to capital while aligning investments with climate resilience and inclusive growth.” He added, “Nestlé is leading the sustainability agenda and finding solutions for climate change and a more sustainable future, through our investments in renewable energy, circularity for a waste-free future, and regenerative agriculture to help protect, renew, and restore the environment.”

For Nestlé, forums like the 28ᵗʰ Sustainable Development Conference and Sustainability Investment Expo are important opportunities to showcase the company’s confidence and investment in Pakistan’s potential, guided by its commitment to be a force for good across its value chain — to unlock the power of food and enhance quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come.
