Nestlé for Healthier Kids

Nestlé for Healthier Kids (N4HK) program organized a drawing contest for children between age group of 10-14 years, to engage their creative capacities resulting in more than 1000 entries from across Pakistan. N4HK would like to congratulate top six winners, who will be awarded a certificate of recognition for their participation. The winners were announced on the occasion of World Health Day as the idea behind the drawing contest was to engage children, enhance their creativity while inculcating the importance of healthy lifestyle and physical activity in their daily lives.

The competition consisted of drawing themes: 'I’m active, I exercise’; ‘I eat healthy’; and 'I love water’. The thematic areas were selected after careful consideration since, one of the key purposes of this activity was to educate the children about healthy habits and give them an opportunity to become more aware of active lifestyle through drawing pictures under any one of the three drawing themes given. A big thank you to all the young participants for sharing stellar masterpieces of original and creative artwork demonstrating deeper understanding of the themes of the contest.

Nutrition is key to ensure a child’s healthy development. But as always, theory is one thing, practice is another. Encouraging kids to eat more veggies and fruits, ensuring their meals are as nutritious as possible and that their protein sources are diversified can be a tough challenge for parents and caregivers.

Nestlé for Healthier Kids in Pakistan

Pakistan has been reported to have one of the highest levels of prevalence of child malnutrition compared to other developing countries. According to National Nutrition Survey 2018, Pakistan is in the midst of a nutrition crisis with stunted growth being a major indicator. A focus on quality of diet and nutrition awareness is extremely essential to prevent stunting, wasting and other forms of malnutrition.

This was the impetus behind the launch of Nestlé for Healthier Kids (N4HK) Program in Pakistan in 2010. Nestlé for Healthier Kids is a comprehensive program which aims to raise nutrition and health knowledge and promote physical activity among school-age children. The program empowers parents, teachers and caregivers to foster healthier eating, drinking and lifestyle habits among children.

Our school-dedicated module follows train the trainer model through which the school teachers are empowered with educational tools and behavior change solutions to promote health lifestyles in the school environment. The Program is anchored in strong nutritional and behavioral science and aims to encourage the adoption of 7 healthier habits.

Till date, we have reached out to 250,000 children in 310 schools and trained 1300 teachers through the collective effort of 10 educational partners nationwide from the development, private and public sectors.

Inspiring Children to Live Healthier Lives

Nestlé for Healthier Kids is a curriculum-based program comprising of a book (in both English and Urdu) which provide basic knowledge on nutrition and encourage physical activity, intake of balanced diet and importance of hydration and hygiene.

The Program establishes foundations for healthier eating by inspiring kids to eat well in a way that’s engaging and interactive, through various fun learning activities like healthy lunchbox contest and cooking workshops for kids.
