Swiss Ambassador inaugurates NHK Room in Multan School

H. E. Mr. Marc P. George, Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan, recently inaugurated the Nestlé Healthy Kids (NHK) Room at the Punjab Workers Welfare School for Girls in Multan.

The NHK room has been designed and funded by the company a result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which was recently signed between NHK and Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB). Under this MOU, the NHK Programme will be implemented in all schools operated by PWWB across Punjab.

On his visit to the school, Mr. George appreciated the efforts of Nestlé Pakistan in the field of nutrition, especially the NHK Programme. He said that such efforts will help in promoting a healthy society for the future.

Mr. Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs, Nestlé Pakistan said, "NHK is part of our commitment to develop knowledge leadership in children’s nutrition. A big part of that is our belief in nutritional education, which should start in school. We want to make the children mindful of the importance of eating right and engaging in physical activity."

The Nestlé Healthy Kids programme is Nestlé’s global initiative which aims to better inform schoolchildren and teachers about nutrition and health. It has so far reached more than 85,000 children in suburban and urban areas of Pakistan in collaboration with CARE Foundation, Silver Oaks and TEDDS.

About Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme

The Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme was launched in Pakistan in 2010, and till date has imparted nutritional awareness to about 85,000 children (6 to 16 years) in the rural, sub – urban and urban areas of the country through specially developed curriculum books targeting different age groups to teach healthy and nutritious practices; importance of good nutrition; types of nutrients and importance of physical activity. Current partners include Punjab Education Foundation, Oxford University Press, Care Foundation, Silver Oaks, Trust for Education and Development for Deserving Students, Kiran Foundation, Peshawar Model School and Punjab Workers Welfare Board.
