Oxford University Press partners up with Nestle for nutrition education

Nestlé Pakistan recently signed an agreement with Oxford University Press for curriculum development for Nestlé Healthy Kids (NHK) Programme.

NHK Programme is a global initiative, the purpose of which is to develop knowledge of school children about nutrition and health in order to promote the importance of physical activity and hygiene. 

Speaking on the occasion, Bruno Olierhoek, Nestlé Pakistan’s Managing Director, said, "Our partnership with Oxford University Press will add significant value to 'Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme'. Their expertise will help further promote this initiative to make a difference at large." 

He added: "We are in the process of expanding the scope of NHK Pakistan by taking onboard new credible partner organizations – schools and other institutional linkages – to enhance the impact of our programme and we have entered a collaboration arrangement with Oxford University Press Pakistan, which a leading name in school curriculum development. Our vision for this Education Content Partnership is to enhance the overall image of our NHK Programme, both locally and internationally, within and outside Nestlé Community."

In her comments on the initiative, Ameena Saiyid, Managing Director, Oxford University Press Pakistan, said, "Malnutrition in Pakistan is a huge problem, especially in children. As a part of this community, it is important to do our part in order to tackle this issue. We are pleased to support Nestlé Pakistan and publishing the NHK books is one way of doing it. Through this partnership, the ‘Healthy Kids Programme’ would be able to educate many more children in nutrition, health and hygiene."

NHK Pakistan is a curriculum-based programme. Two Nutrition books will be available to different age groups and Oxford University Press (OUP) will help re-design the two books. The NHK books will also be displayed at all Oxford University Press outlets nationwide and free copies will be made available to all school going children.
