Keeping up with the commitment of ‘Safety First’, Nestlé Pakistan and NH&MP (National Highway and Motorway Police) inaugurated a Drivers Training Facility in Karachi. According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, 9,100 traffic accidents occurred in 2015-16 in Pakistan of which 924 were in Sindh.

The training institute, situated on Super Highway, under the supervision of NH&MP and its trained instructors, will not only train Nestlé Pakistan’s drivers based in the southern parts of the country, but will also provide training to drivers of other public and corporate organizations in the region. The training module includes class room lectures, training on driving simulator and on-road training.

This is the second collaboration between Nestlé Pakistan and NH&MP. In 2009, the first Drivers’ Training Facility was established in Sheikhupura. So far 18,000 drivers from across the country have been trained, including more than 4,400 Nestlé drivers.

Kaleem Imam, Inspector General NH&MP expressed appreciation for Nestlé’s support of the training. “More deaths in Pakistan take place due to road accidents than terrorism. It’s highly important to have proper training to reduce this number. The support for this facility from Nestlé would help in making our roads safer in addition to inculcating road sense in the commuters as well as the drivers” he said.

“At Nestlé Pakistan, we believe in safety first and this collaboration highlights the importance of our commitment toward the well-being of communities we operate in,” said Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs at Nestlé Pakistan. “This partnership with NH&MP will enhance and ensure safety on roads for general public as well as safe return of drivers to their families”, he further added.
