If stored in refrigerator, why does the water gets separated from the yogurt?
The contents of yoghurt are heavier than water so water rises to top but it does not mean that the product has perished. This usually happens when there is a sudden change in temperature. It can also happen when you buy a chilled dairy product and it takes you a while to get home to put the yoghurt in the refrigerator. The liquid separates naturally in yogurt, cream and other dairy products. You can just pour it off, or you can mix it in too. It doesn't usually happen until after you open the yogurt, but it's normal.
