Nestlé Pakistan has partnered with the Federal Directorate of Education to roll out its Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme (NHK) at schools in the capital that fall under the Prime Minister Education Reform initiative.

This partnership marks the launch of NHK Programme in the capital with the aim of educating around 5000 children on the value of nutrition and physical activity. NHK Programme is part of the company’s global commitment to nutrition, health and wellness.

Under the Education Reform initiative, 422 schools will be upgraded by building libraries and toilets, refurbishing classrooms, providing access to clean drinking water and installing biometric attendance systems. During the initial phase, 21 schools will be improved.

In the first phase, Nestlé will train teachers and provide free of cost NHK books to all children in 4 schools selected by the Directorate. Nestlé will also build NHK Rooms at 2 of these schools. The programme is already being implemented at partner schools in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“This programme forms a big part of our commitment to improve local nutritional challenges through the promotion of greater awareness, knowledge and understanding of better eating, healthy hydration, greater physical activity and other key measures as hygiene. We hope the partnership will help create an environment that will provide conducive physical structures along with the right nutrition knowledge needed for our future leaders,” said Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs at Nestlé Pakistan.

Moin-ud-Din Wani, Director General of Federal Directorate of Education, said, “Pakistan is faced with huge nutritional challenges, especially malnutrition. A lack of awareness is one of the causes and while the government is working on it, it is always good to have somebody to help. Having support from a company like Nestlé, which is known for its global commitment to nutrition and health, is a big boon.”
