Nestlé Pakistan commits Rs 66 Million for Flood Relief

Nestlé Pakistan Ltd, the subsidiary of Nestlé S.A Switzerland and the largest food and Beverage Company has committed Rs 66 Million for flood relief activities. The amount also includes volunteer donations from staff and other Nestlé Markets and is also inclusive of Rs 15 Million in terms of volunteer staff time and logistic costs spent to deliver the relief effort. The initiatives by Nestlé include food support to 10,000 families (addressing 60,000 People) for three weeks of support rations including company products like milk and water.

Additionally, more than 100 farmers and cattle-help camps have been established to provide veterinary services to farmers and their cattle and also to vaccinate 100,000 animals till date. The total target is to vaccinate more than 300,000 cows/ buffaloes by end October 2010. The other initiatives include provision of Nestlé water tankers (a fleet of twelve 10 ton tankers to relief organizations in southern Punjab) for providing clean water to flood affectees.

Nestlé Pakistan remains committed to the communities it works and lives with. A new project for rehabilitation of flood affectees for reviving their tube wells, hand pumps, agriculture and livestock inclusive of food support for people is under initiation. One of the good examples for Nestlé relief works is that all the work was done by Nestlé own staff in the field and employees personally supervised the effort while dealing directly with the affectees.
