Nestlé continues to invest in livestock

Nestlé Pakistan organized a visit of a model Sarsabz Training Farm for livestock & dairy development. The tour focused on different aspects of the Sarsabz farm and aimed to create awareness in the general public about the company’s investment in training and milk procurement platforms that facilitate formation of model dairy & livestock farms across Pakistan.

Accompanying the media team was Nestlé's Syed Fakhar Ahmed, Head of Corporate Affairs and Saira Zafar, Manager Public Affairs & Communication.

The media delegates were given a comprehensive tour of the training centre which provided them with first-hand knowledge about the theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of “best dairy farm practices" that Nestlé has adopted in Pakistan. They were also briefed on the Nestlé’s imported livestock used for procuring milk, advanced milking equipment and other facilities that are typical of a modern dairy farm.

Addressing the media team, Fakhar Ahmed, Head of Corporate Affairs – Nestlé Pakistan said: "Pakistan is an important contributor in the global dairy market. In Pakistan, Nestlé is committed to invest in training and deploying international standards that help develop local capacity at par with international standards. Training and demonstration of farming best practices to existing and new dairy farmers is essential to enhance knowledge and practical know-how of local farmers. We believe that trained farmers will be able to contribute to the company’s demand for quantity and quality milk both locally and abroad."

He lauded the role of media in creating awareness of health and hygiene concerns and said: “The purpose of Nestlé Sarsabz Training Farm is to highlight the valuable role Nestlé Pakistan plays in continuously triggering new interest in dairy farming that results in the desired quantity and quality of fresh milk. This could be a vital step towards increase in per capita consumption of milk in the country."

The media team was also informed that Nestlé Pakistan is committed to creating shared value for the communities it operates within. The company has made contributions to establishment of primary schools, setting up of water filtration plants, conducting vocational training programs, and provided support and empowerment to farmers through programs that have realized socio-economic opportunities for families.
